Full- and Part-time Volunteers Urgently Needed!
No prior experience is necessary – but daring to care and a willingness to learn and work are mandatory.
With CCLP, learn basic organizing skills through on-the-job training, to make a difference in building organization of lasting service to those the legal profession is pledged to serve. Receive classes on organizing methods, community organizing, as well as legal and labor history. Learn to organize and build leadership, incorporating people from all walks of life to resolve legal problems born of poverty.
As a volunteer with Coalition of Concerned Legal Professionals (CCLP), you can play an instrumental role in legal battles and campaigns affecting thousands of low-income workers, homeowners, tenants, prisoners, immigrants, seniors, owners of local businesses, victims of police misconduct and a growing portion of our population who lack access to the courts.
Know Your Law Sessions
CCLP volunteer licensed attorneys conduct Know Your Law educational sessions on topics such as wage theft and employment, consumer debt, police stops, housing, immigration and much more, for organizations whose constituencies lack access to the law.
Publications Production
CCLP needs graphic designers, writers and photographers to help write and design publications and flyers to publicize CCLP’s efforts. Join us, whether your have publishing skills and can teach, or want to learn and participate.
Legal Advice Sessions
CCLP provides on-the-job training to volunteers to advocate for workers injured on the job, those facing wage theft, consumer debt, housing, immigration problems and more. Volunteers conduct initial interviews and follow up the plan of action advised by the volunteer attorney.
Neighborhood Canvasses
CCLP volunteers receive training in door-to-door canvassing in neighborhoods of low-income workers to reach families buried in consumer and other forms of household debt and other legal problems. CCLP offers them a material manifestation of hope; an organization where they can join with others to fight these problems.
Community Outreach
Learn and do public speaking and community outreach to universities, professional associations, Continuing Legal Education fora and religious institutions; or host a CCLP speaker at your organization, class, congregation or club.
Mailouts & Phoning
CCLP relies on printed letters and publications to reach new volunteers, supporters and keep all informed of CCLP’s current programs and news. Volunteers are needed to assist with mailing these items. Volunteers are also needed for telephone sessions to contact lawyers and other volunteers to involve them in legal advice sessions, Know Your Law sessions and the many other activities scheduled every week.
